Appointments start at 7:00 a.m. on weekdays in the Rehabilitation Services department, located on the first floor of Medical Building 1 (Health Center).

If you live in or near Gainesville, you can save yourself driving time by using our rehabilitation services at our satellite facility, the Medical Center in Gainesville, conveniently located at 14370 Lee Highway.

Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Pathology
Physical therapists work to minimize the effects of accidents, disease or developmental disabilities. Therapists help their patients restore or improve muscle strength, joint movement, flexibility and endurance. They do this by carefully evaluating a patient’s status and then designing a treatment plan geared toward that person’s specific needs. The purpose of physical therapy is to help patients maximize their physical abilities, to reduce pain and to prevent further disability.

Occupational therapists focus on helping their patients develop the basic skills necessary to increase their level of independence and quality of life, allowing them to function at the highest level possible.

Speech-language pathologists specialize in diagnosing and treating patients with communication problems, including those who are unable to make speech sounds or cannot make them clearly. Speech pathologists also evaluate and treat patients with feeding or swallowing dysfunction.

In addition, we offer a 15-minute light touch massage therapy for oncology inpatients and chemotherapy patients.
