This group provides a supportive atmosphere, information on community resources and community speakers who address positive coping behaviors. Diabetes Mini-Seminars
Meetings occur every other month on the third Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. A guest speaker will often present information, and there will also be time for sharing and socializing. Stroke Support Group
Stroke survivors and their family and friends are invited to attend this monthly support group for information and friendship. By sharing experiences, members can help one another overcome challenges throughout recovery. Look Good Feel Better
Trained cosmetologists teach beauty techniques to women cancer patients to help them cope with the appearance-related side effects of treatment. Women learn how to deal with skin changes and hair loss using cosmetics and skin care products donated by the cosmetic industry. They also learn how to choose and care for wigs and how to disguise hair loss with scarves and other accessories. The program is free, but registration is required. General Cancer Support Group at CCLM
Clinical studies report that support goups generally help cancer patients cope, have better outcomes and help with life satisfaction and relationships. The Cancer Center at Lake Manassas sponsors a general cancer support group in its lobby on the first and third Monday of most months from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This group is for both patients and family members, for the newly diagnosed as well as long-term survivors. Share in the gentle laughter, compassion and communication with others at the women's cancer support group at The Cancer Center at Lake Manassas (CCLM). You'll hear from experts in the medical community, cancer survivors, and learn about services that help with comfort, communication and self-esteem.
