PALS Provider Course
The purpose of this 2-day course is to train medical, nursing and allied health personnel who are actively engaged on a daily basis in providing Pediatric Advanced Life Support as defined by the American Heart Association.

Competency/Skills Days
A new process for assessing skills and competencies is being explored. However, it is still important to maintain ACLS, PALS and BLS certifications. Specific details for hospital and department-specific competencies will be announced.

Basic IV Skills Workshop
This course is designed for PWH employees only (RN's, LPN's, nursing technical assistants and technicians in radiology or diagnostics and imaging who require knowledge of basic IV skills). Participants will learn how to perform successful venipuncture, identify complications and maintain the IV system with routine care. Class size is limited and restricted to those who require IV skills as part of thier job description.

Introduction to Medical Terminology
This six-week course will utilize word-building strategies by recognizing and understanding component parts of medical terms. Emphasis is placed on spelling, correct usage, definition and pronunciation of the mostly commonly used medical terms.
Designed for Unit Secretaries, Central Schedulers, Patient Access Services staff and other hospital and physician office employees requiring basic knowledge of medical terminology.
NOTE: This course will meet every Thursday from 5:00pm - 7:00pm, March 27 - May 1, 2008.

Fee: Free to PWHS employees, Non-PWHS employees $100
