Celebrating Award-Winning Medical Care

Prince William Hospital has been recognized by the Senate Productivity and Quality Awards (SPQA) board for Virginia for two consecutive years for Excellence in Organizational Performance. The purpose of the award is to highlight the outstanding quality of business, governments and nonprofit organizations. The SPQA mission is to cultivate continuous improvement and growth for the Commonwealth of Virginia through a process of knowledge sharing, evaluation, feedback and recognition.

The Press Ganey Compass Awards recognize healthcare facilities whose satisfaction scores have shown the greatest improvement over the past two years. Prince William Hospital was recognized in 2007 for its increased scores.

Prince William Hospital is the first Virginia hospital to receive Disease Certification for both Knee and Hip Joint Replacement by the Joint Commission, 2007. To earn this distinction, a disease management program undergoes an extensive, unannounced, on-site evaluation by a team of Joint Commission reviewers every two years. The program is evaluated against Joint Commission standards through an assessment of its processes, its ability to evaluate and improve care within its organization, and interviews with patients and staff. In June 2009, the hospital was awarded recertification.
In December 2009, Prince William Hospital received Disease Certification for its management of Heart Failure and Acute Myocardial Infarction. Additionally, the hospital was awarded recertification for its Pneumonia Program.

In 1986, Prince William Hospital's cancer program was first awarded the Community Hospital Cancer program accreditation by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer. In 2008, the hospital received a three-year accreditation with seven commendations by the "Commission on Cancer." Accreditation surveys are held tri-annually.

Prince William Hospital is the winner of the 2007 Insight Awards for Overall Performance and Operational Improvement. Prince William Hospital was recognized by Thomson for reaching its goals of decreasing costs and complications while increasing market share for hip and knee joint replacement procedures.

The News & Messenger has recognized Prince William Hospital as the "Best" hospital. Winners are based on a survey conducted by the News & Messenger readers.
Prince William Hospital has been recognized by Cleverley & Associates as a 5-Star hospital based on its Community Value Index (CVI). Five-Star Hospitals are those that achieve CVI scores in the top 20 percent of all hospitals in the study.

Prince William was recognized as one of "23 Hospitals with Great Orthopaedic and Spine Programs" by Becker's Orthopaedic & Spine Review, the leading source of business and legal information for hospitals and outpatient surgical centers. Among other hospitals named were New York-Presbyterian/Columbia (New York) and Rush University Medical Center (Chicago).
